How the Procedure Works

1. Temporary Repair: Best for those who need the repair done shortly (usually 3 to 7 days) before a specific date, often using microsurgery to tighten the opening.
2. Permanent Repair (Flap Technique): Utilizes a small tissue flap from the inside of the vaginal wall to create a new, reconstructed membrane.

– Duration: The operation takes about 30 to 60 minutes and is usually performed under local anesthesia or sedation.
– Recovery Timeline: Complete healing generally takes about 4 weeks.
– Restrictions: Strenuous exercise, cycling, and sexual activity must be avoided during the recovery period to allow the stitches to heal properly.
Aftercare & Healing
Following the procedure, it is common to experience temporary bruising, minor swelling, or light discomfort around the surgical site. To ensure a smooth recovery and prevent infections, patients should maintain strict local hygiene and use any prescribed medications as directed. It is critical to protect the healing internal tissue by avoiding sexual intercourse, tampons, vaginal douching, and strenuous exercise for a full 4 weeks. As self-dissolving stitches are utilized, no suture removal is necessary, and the area will heal naturally over the course of a few weeks. Most patients can comfortably return to low-impact daily routines and desk work just a couple of days after the procedure.
